The
Society for Social and Political Philosophy: Historical, Continental, and Feminist Perspectives (SSPP)
The Society for Social and Political Philosophy: Historical, Continental, and Feminist
Perspectives (SSPP)
seeks to promote debate and scholarship in Social and Political Philosophy.
Through meetings, events, and publications the society aims to provide
an inclusive, non-hierarchical, and interdisciplinary forum for interested
scholars from various disciplines, orientations, and training, to engage
issues concerning the historical, continental, and feminist aspects of
political and social theory. “Historical” is understood to encompass textual,
interpretative, and discursive analyses not limited to Marxist, Hermeneutic,
Genealogical, Post-Colonial, and other approaches. “Continental” is understood
in the broadest possible terms, including the intersection of European,
Latin American, Asian, and African systems of thought and philosophical
practices. “Feminist” is intended here to include anything that privileges
sex, gender, and queer identities in approaching social and political
relations. When and where possible and appropriate, the society will provide
support for researchers in the humanities and the social sciences who
pursue these themes, and represent the interest of its members within
professional organizations, congresses, or associations, national or international.
More information about the Society is available at the
SSPP website. 2008 membership in SSPP includes a special issue of
the journal International Studies in Philosophy, volume 39, number 2 (not yet published).
