Colloquium on Violence and Religion (COV&R)

The International Association of Scholars of Mimetic Theory

The Colloquium on Violence and Religion (COV&R) is dedicated to the exploration, criticism, and development of René Girard‘s mimetic model of the relationship between violence and religion in the genesis and maintenance of culture. Founded in 1990, COV&R is concerned with questions of research and application. Scholars from diverse fields and theoretical orientations are invited to participate in its conferences and publications.

Membership includes a digital subscription to Contagion: Journal of Violence, Mimesis, and Culture through JSTOR (members may request a print copy by email if they are unable to access the journal electronically) and access to COV&R's quarterly Bulletin. The Bulletin contains the Bibliography of Literature on the Mimetic Theory, book reviews, information on the annual conference, and announcements.

Members may also order print copies of Studies in Violence, Mimesis, and Culture and the Breakthroughs in Mimetic Theory Series from MSU Press at a 20% discount with a special code available only to members. More information about COV&R membership is available at www.violenceandreligion.com.
