SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Submissions are welcome from anyone working in the field: professors, scholars, students. Submissions may be of any reasonable length (under forty manuscript pages), and must meet professional and academic standards for original work suitable for publication. English language submissions are strongly preferred.

The journal follows the Chicago Manual of Style (17th ed.) for citations and general style guidelines A helpful resource on The Chicago Manual of Style is available online here..

To ensure that special characters display correctly, articles should be submitted in Gentium font with transliterations as necessary. The Gentium font is an open-source font and works on both PCs and Macs. This font may be downloaded here.

All manuscripts must be be submitted online in Word format (.docx, .rtf) through the journal's online submission system. Please do not send papers to the editor by email.

Include complete citations in embedded footnotes for each article. Footnotes must be complete because bibliographies are not included.

Submitted papers must include an abstract of 100-150 words.

Submitted papers may also include a list of subject descriptors or key terms - this is optional.

In the e-mail message accompanying your submission please include:

  • your name
  • university or organizational affiliation
  • mailing address
  • telephone / fax number
  • e-mail address where you can be reached during the production process

If any of this information changes during the editorial process please let us know to make sure that we have your current contact information on hand.

The Journal of Islamic Philosophy reserves the right to make necessary editorial and design changes prior to final publication.
